Grounds D

During the pandemic, Deema found solace in weaving small squares of palm weaves collected from her parent's house. She would start by writing on each leaf the story of her childhood home from the palm trees’ viewpoint, then she would weave the leaves together. The color of the leaves transported her back to the deep green color of the room where she grew up. That same green color gave the artist a grounding bittersweet sensation, which became the driving force behind this series which attempts to recreate that feeling.
