Kamo River 3
From one side of the Shijo bridge, Deema saw a woman reading by the bank. On the other side, a man was lying down in one of the nearby houses. The houses are small and open, and the river is shallow and inviting. This series is inspired by the line of buildings by Kamo-gawa, and by the walks through the streets of Kyoto, Japan. This series is Deema’s first work with monotype, she produced them during a workshop with Gabriel Fled at Art Studio Kuwait. When asked to bring her own materials, she chose a pile of cooked palm leaves because they can produce bold shapes and fine details.
